The Drywall Recycling Process
Drywall scraps and paper are picked up by our crews with our Drywall Recycling + Scrapping service and sent to one of our Drywall Recycling Centers for processing. Or, you have the option of dropping off your clean drywall at one of these centers with your own crew.
At the Recycling Centers, DRS takes the drywall sheets and separates the paper from the gypsum. The paper is separated from the gypsum through our custom drywall recycling machine, that was designed by DRS Inc. The paper is then bound with a heavy duty baler that can process up to 48 tons of paper per day. The paper bales are transported to recycling plants that produce hundreds of recycled products.
Once the paper is separated from the paper, it then continues through our custom machine and is made into 3 different sized products from ultra-fine to large gypsum. The ground gypsum is shipped by semi trailer truck to drywall manufacturers as well as agricultural companies. (read more about recycled products)

The Wood Recycling Process
DRS takes in wood and also collects all wood on every site we work. Wood is run through either a Hogzilla or Erickson wood grinder and produces what is called 'Bio-Mass Energy.' The Bio - Mass Energy is then transported to local facilities to burn and create energy to run their plants.
The following are different types of wood that DRS can recycle:
| Wood pallets | Railroad ties | ||
| Brush | Demo wood | ||
| Trees | Plywood | ||
| Lumber | Beams | ||
| Treated wood | Any other clean, non-painted wood |
